This is my blog about things that interest me. Most of the posts will be sports opinions. Most of the emphasis will be on Pittsburgh sports and I will try to include some high school opinions. I will also comment on national stories. I will also include my opinions on politics, TV, movies and other things.

Pittsburgh/National Radio Personalities

For my job I spend at least 2 to 3 hours a day in my car listening to the radio. Here are my opininons about the guys and contributers I listen to.

Mark Madden- The most controversial host in the city but I feel the best. He is by far the most entertaining and offers the most different views. Many people do not realize he is putting on a show and not always serious. He is funny and not boring which is a nice change. If you are easily offended don't listen. Furthermore, I think he does the best interviews on the radio. He asks tough questions when needed while putting many athletes at ease and asking unusual questions. Many people just do the same show and offer the same opinion as most, Madden does not.

Guy Junker & Eddie Crow- I think they work well together and have a good show. Guy balances out Eddie's off the wall comments. I couldn't listen to either of them by themselves. Guy would be too boring and Eddie too weird. I like their "what the hell did he say?" and the sports reprters on Thursdays is very good. Jag-off of the week often just rehashes stories already discussed before. Overall, a solid but not great show that is usually entertaining.

Ellis Canon- He often offers good opinions and analysis but he often gets repetitive. He repeats himself often and is long winded so it takes awhile. His "permission to come aboard" is stupid and annoying. I like the show in small doses and do enjoy his goofy topics and he tells stories very well when he gets to them.

Jeff Hawthorne and Gene Collier- I find the show very boring. It is a news show more than anything offering a review of the days news with some opinion. I enjoy Collier as a writer but his comedy doesn't translate to radio very well. The show would be better if you were locked in a padded room for a week and needed to know what was going on.

Dan Patrick- I can't stand the show. It is like a bitch fest where Dan just criticizes people he doesn't like. He also talks about the same thing everyday. How mant times do we need to hear about T.O., Barry Bonds, the Cowboys quarterback, Big Ben's health, and AL MVP.

Mike and Mike- This show is excellent. Golic and Greenberg are very entertaining and work together great. Their isn't much to say but if you are up listen.

Ken Laird- The resident vegitarian often offers crazy and wrong theories. His theories are often wrong but are different and do lead to good discussion. I don't like his opinions much but find myself enjoying the show.

Jim Colony- Madden's puching bag isn't too bad on gamenight. He isn't great or awful and puts on an average show. When Madden is picking on him he plays along great and provides very funny radio.

My favorite guests include Merril Hoge, Rob Rossi, Joe Starkey, Ed Bouchette, and Jon Clayton.
